Featured Author - Prof. Dr. Helge Stadelmann

Dr. Helge Stadelmann is professor of Practical Theology at the Freie Theologische Hochschule Giessen / Germany and at the Evangelische Theologische Faculteit Leuven / Belgium. He was born in Nürnberg, Germany, in 1952 and studied Theology and early Judaism at the Freie Evangelisch Theologische Akademie Basel 1970-74), Dallas Theological Seminary (1975-76), Cambridge University (1976-78) and Basel University (1978-79).

He earned his doctorate in New Testament at Basel University with a dissertation on Ben Sira as a Scribe. He then taught NT and Homiletics in two Bible Colleges in Germany (Brake / Wiedenest) 1979-86. 1986 he was called as Academic Dean and Lecturer in New Testament, Hermeneutics, and Homiletics to the Freie Theologische Akademie Giessen, switched to the Practical Theology department in 1990, became Rector of the institution from 1994-2015 and developed the school to a State recognized university level „Hochschule“ (2008).

Besides his academic duties Stadelmann is active in pastoral work in a small Baptist church and in local politics as elected member of the city-council of his home-town.
